The SynBioReactor is the spiritual successor to our SynBio World Café. During this event we create a common hub for entrepreneurs, start-ups and investors to foster a thriving industry landscape for SynBio. To create the best experience, our program is tailored to connect our participants, thereby supporting collaboration, knowledge exchange, networking, and investment opportunities in a dynamic and immersive setting.
The SynBio World Café is GASB’s annually meeting of the SynBio industry. We are convinced that groundbreaking research is performed in Germany and Synthetic Biology is a thriving research field that can provide biotechnological solutions to the most pressing global issues of the 21st century. By bringing together stakeholders of the SynBio community we want to discuss hurdles, obstacles, and bottlenecks that come with founding a new SynBio company as well as steering an already existing one towards success.
Dive in to the World of SynBio and learn some exciting science and facts about Biotechnology by watching the Biohackers series together with our selected experts from the field. How much truth is behind a glowing mouse – Is this already possible or science fiction? The Science Watch Parties are organized together with the “Haus der Wissenschaft” and give the curious mind the chance to get the answers, no matter if you are a SynBio veteran or newby.
Stay on top of cutting-edge SynBio research and contribute your own ideas during our annual GASB conference. A wide range of keynote sessions from experts, selected talks from young scientists and poster sessions with the speakers allow you to expand your knowledge and build valuable connections supporting your research and career.
In addition GASB takes part in organizing the German Conference on Synthetic Biology (GCSB) as a joint effort between the organisations DECHEMA and GBM
What does politics think about progressive bioeconomy? How do we drive towards a more sustainable future and what is the role of SynBio? These and more questions are addressed by our events series GASB meets ÖkoProg together with… In panel discussions with politicians, scientist and experts we start the open discourse about these pressing issues. Bring in your ideas and learn from interesting discussions about the future of bioeconomy.
GASB is strongly connected to the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. A large number of active members have participated in iGEM as team members, leaders and advisors, thereby further strengthening our engagement with this worldwide student’s synthetic biology competition. Therefore GASB is present on iGEM Meetups and supports iGEM teams in organizing events like the German iGEM Meetup 2018 hosted together with iGEM Marburg that helped the teams to network and find collaborations.

Our Activities
Raising political awareness and inform elected officials about the possibilities of the key discipline SynBio is a crucial step in shaping the environment for future SynBio growth. Therefore, GASB wants to step up to its role of representing the values and needs of the SynBio industry on a political level and mediate the discourse.

A thriving and disruptive new field like SynBio often clashes with conservative oppositions. As GASB we think that discourse and education is the best way to overcome the barriers of traditional thinking. Trough our actions and events that address the general public as well as young students, GASB is guiding the path to a broad understanding and accessibility of SynBio technologies.
In Germany the Synthetic Biology industry is still in its infancy. GASB introduces fundamental concepts and design principles of Synthetic Biology to companies and its representatives. With its flagship industry event – the “SynBio World Café” – GASB provides a platform to connect great minds and innovative ideas to accelerate the integration of SynBio products into our daily life.
