Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf

The department of plant cell biology and biotechnology (Prof. Markus Pauly) is looking for 1 Postdoctoral Researcher (m, f, d) Full-time position, available immediately for up to 3 years (until 31.12.2025)

Within an interdisciplinary project with groups from experimental and theoretical synthetic biology a synthetic leaf is pursued to gain insights into optimal carbon fixation and development: In this particular project the vasculature/grid architecture in leaves is investigated. You will be in charge of creating synthetic tissues with spatially defined vasculature architectures using optical genetic switches and 3D bioprinters. After assessing the physiology of such a synthetic leaf, the vasculature grid algorithm will be modified and a more optimal vasculature grid retested.

Requirements: You have a university degree in biology, biotechnology or a comparable subject and a completed PhD. You should have extensive independent experience in the following areas: Handling and engineering of plant cell cultures. Synthetic biology and molecular biology. Proficient skills in spoken and written English. In addition, experience in the following areas would be desirable: Optogenetics, 3D tissue printing.

We are looking forward to applications from highly motivated candidates who are interested in working in an interdisciplinary environment. We welcome your application (including CV, publication list and 2-3 contact details for references) as a single PDF file to Prof. Markus Pauly m.pauly@hhu.de .
