What is Synbio?<\/h3>\n

Synthetic Biology is a young field of research with the goal to turn biology into an engineering discipline. For that it focuses on the standardization of bioengineering and uses state of the art tools like gene synthesis or CRISPR-Cas9 to design and build biological systems, with altered or completely new functions. <\/span><\/p>\n

Mission and Vision<\/h3>\n

The German Association for Synthetic Biology (GASB) has set the goal to establish Synthetic Biology as a key discipline and to serve as the association for this young research area in Germany.<\/p>\n

To achieve this goal, GASB\u00a0is organizing events like conferences and workshops, is providing a platform for dialogue within the scientific community as well as with the society and is taking position for Synthetic Biology in Germany.<\/p>\n

We aim to foster responsible research and applications in Synthetic Biology as well as the dialogue in a social as well as a political context.<\/p>\n
